Emergency medicine is a popular choice for IMGs but the allure is short lived. Though the attraction to fixed shift hours, excellent compensation, the romance of being at the forefront of medical drama (propounded by the every popular TV shows like ER and hospital etc), the striking reality of EM for IMG is that it is very tough to get. That being said, there may be some hard core IMGs who cannot see a career in anything else other than emergency medicine and for those die-hard fanatic ER IMGs, follow is the list of best states for IMGs wishing to apply to emergency medicine. The choloropleth map denotes the states which have the highest percentage of IMG residents in the EM programs.
