Sample email indicating the program your choice of the ranking order

Hello folks, 

I have been asked this by quite a few applicants. This is regarding the content or type of email to be sent to the programs indicating your intention to rank a program. In short, how to compose an e-mail which says that you are going to rank the program high.  Since correspondence can be a window of opportunity which can lead to a better chance at getting residency, every applicant must have such a letter mailed or email to their top program.

Sample letter:

Hello Dr. _____ ,

The interview season is over and hopefully things are settling down for you as well.

After a careful review of the multiple programs that I interviewed with, I am pleased to inform you that I am going to rank __________  favorably.

This decision comes after meticulous evaluation of personal goals, program philosophies and values. More over, __ [insert your reason here - favorable geographical location, family, personal reason]

I am confident that I will be a great asset to the institution and the association will be beneficial to the department as well as me.
